What are the benefits of using an on-line gift registry?
  • First of all, gift registries allow you to receive exactly what you want for your special day. No need to worry about returning unwanted or duplicate gifts, or piling them up to sell at your first garage sale.

  • On-line gift registries allow all your guests and friends, from down the street and across the country, to access your registry and contribute towards the gift(s) you've requested, large or small.

  • Guests don't have to spend time walking through busy shopping malls or searching through shelves and shelves of stoneware to find your item number.

  • On-line registries make every store nationwide, especially if the guest is simply contributing money to a gift you are receiving from a local specialty shop. This is especially convenient if you've registered with a retailer not located in their area.

  • Gift tracking is made especially convenient in that many on-line gift registries offer software that will do the work. Don't want to save all those gift cards and match envelopes to boxes when you get back from your honeymoon? Let us do it for you!

How will our guests know where we are registered?
Comeregister.com has incorporated a gift registry enclosure card into its software. According to Glenis M. Crawford, sending this card to your guests with the invitation for the wedding is becoming more and more acceptable as registering for weddings becomes more and more expected. Guests will be delighted to know that they have a one-stop option for contributing to the gift of your dreams from the convenience of their own home!

What if our guests do not have access to a computer?
On the gift registry enclosure card will be a 1-800 number this guest can access for information about your registry. They may also contribute money towards your gift(s) via the number at this time. Otherwise, your registry can be accessed at the public library or a friend's computer. They will still steer clear of the inconvenience of finding you a gift you may not want, or searching for your gift at a busy shopping mall.

Can we edit our registry should we change our minds about the gift(s) we want to receive?
You or your fiancé may edit your registry by removing gift(s) not yet contributed to or by adding gifts if your current selections are nearly purchased in their entirety. You also have the opportunity to "hide" a gift request should you want your guests to focus more heavily on a different gift. For instance, if you asked for a grill and two pairs of skis, and only $100 is left on the grill, you may want to "hide" the skis from your guests until the grill is completely purchased. Then simply "unhide" the skis to continue contribution for that request. Comeregister.com will alert you via email when a gift is within $200 of being purchased.

What price range should our gift(s) fall into so that we may receive what we asked for?
Registering for one or two large gifts is becoming more and more acceptable in today's world. If you're worried about requesting too much, take a look at the number of guests you've invited to the wedding, and how much money they would each have to contribute in order to purchase your gift. Keep in mind that you can always add or remove gifts if necessary. Also, even if your guests were only able to contribute half of the money for what you registered for, that's like saving half the money for a down payment on a new car or home. You will still receive a final gift certificate for the gifted amount to be redeemed at your specified retailer. Simply fill out the rest of the product or service amount when purchasing your gift(s) or hold onto the certificate until you've saved the difference.

What if we don't know the price of the gift we'd like to receive?
First of all, Comeregister.com requires only approximations of price, so don't worry about finding the exact cost of the item. Second, many of the businesses listed in our gift directory are privately owned and provide an informational site that may or may not include pictures or prices. If you would like to know more about their products or services, or if you'd like to visit them personally to finalize your decision, don't hesitate! Even though we've taken the entire registration process on-line to make it more convenient for you, your guests, and the store itself, we encourage taking advantage of the personalized customer service each listing has to offer.

What if the gift is a service or a custom-made item that doesn't exist yet?
That's great! You're thinking outside the box. If you want to receive a membership or service as a gift, just remember that your guests will want to know what it is and how you will use it. When describing any gift, especially a custom made piece that won't exist until after your guests gift you the money necessary, make sure to be specific and personal about your description in the area provided. Guests love to give gifts, in fact, they expect to. But they are likely to contribute more to something they know you will use and enjoy.

What if we want a gift from a store not listed in the directory?
Please take the time to recommend a business so that we may add that business to our directory as soon as possible. Every business has the opportunity to join our network, free of charge, so feel free to encourage them to offer their gift-registry on-line. Not only will moving your registry on-line make it easier for you and your guests, the business will benefit from having others register for their products or services as well.

Where is the money kept that is contributed to our gift?
Because you are using an on-line registry and receiving contributions to something for which you will purchase at a later date, all monetary gifts are held on your behalf in a separate escrow account. When you redeem the certificate for your gift, the culmination of monetary contributions are released to the business from which the gift was purchased.

What is the advantage of receiving a purchase certificate for the gift we registered for?
A purchase certificate allows you flexibility in choosing a different gift at the store location. This is convenient if you didn't receive the full amount you registered for. You may also add accessories to your gift with any extra contributions you have received. You can choose your gift free of restrictions from model number, color, or sale price. Unlike registering at some major department stores, you may take advantage of sale prices with your purchase certificates because they are just like cash!
